Mary Anderson-Bailey is the Administrative Officer for the YouTheatre and has been working with the program as a Director, Music Director, and Instructor since 2013. She has spent the last two decades honing her craft as a performer, director, music director, accompanist/pit player, vocal coach, and theater instructor. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Musical Theater (Weber State University) and an MA in Arts Leadership and Cultural Management (Colorado State University).
Mary developed a passion for youth theater while working as an outreach arts/music/theater instructor for the Boys and Girls Club of Davis-Weber and a KIDS ACT UP program theater instructor. Professionally, Mary has worked for several theaters in Utah, including The Utah Shakespeare Festival, The Grand Theatre, Utah Musical Theatre, Good Company, Roger’s Memorial Theatre (Centerpointe Theatre), and the Mary G. Steiner Egyptian Theatre. One of her favorite gigs was as an accompanist for the Disney Cruise Line auditions!
Performance credits include A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (Domina), The Secret Garden (Lily), Company (Jenny), Nine (Mother), The Seagull (Paulina), Annie Get Your Gun (Dolly Tate), Wizard of Oz, (The Wicked Witch), and Our Country’s Good (Dabby Bryant). International acting credits include White Chapel the Musical (Catherine Eddows). YouTheatre Directorial credits include Honk! Jr., Alice in Wonderland Jr., Wind In the Willows, Macbeth, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream 80s.
Mary met her husband, J. Michael Bailey, on the stage of the Egyptian Theater in 2007 while performing in a production of Sweeny Todd. Since then, their lives have been full of creative chaos, with four energetic children and two fickle felines (Charlie & Simba).
